Privacy in Egeskov
Egeskov only stores what it needs for you to play with an account. Here is what that is, why, and how you delete it.
What we store
- Your account: your username and your password. The password is only stored as a one-way fingerprint (scrypt), so nobody can read it, not even whoever runs the game.
- Your progress: level, gold, gear, quests and where you stand in the world.
- Your block list: the names of the players you have blocked, so the list follows you to other devices.
- Reports: if you report a player, we store who reported, who was reported, the reason and the reported player's latest chat lines, so the report can be assessed.
- A login cookie: a random key that keeps you logged in for up to 30 days. It is needed for the game to work. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
What we do not keep
- Chat: the latest 20 lines are only kept in the server's memory, so new players can see the conversation. They disappear when the server restarts. Other players can of course read what you write.
- Your IP address: is used briefly in memory to slow down too many login attempts and is not stored.
- Groups and trades only exist while you play.
Who can see what
Other players can see your username, your knight in the world, your level and your bounties in the Hall of Heroes, and what you write in the chat. No other players can see the rest of your information.
Delete your data
Under Account → Delete account in the game you delete your account, your progress, your block list and your login sessions at once. Reports you have made remain, without your name. Reports about you remain, so they can still be assessed.
Questions
If you have questions about your data, contact whoever runs the game.
